@NatHarari No problem - hope it’s useful!
@NatHarari Will do! I’m in the depths of exam marking at the moment so it might take me a little while 😁
@patbak The focus tends to be on NixOS when you read things about Nix so it’s not so well known I think.
@NatHarari Hi! I’m not using NixOS (the operating system) but I am using Nix (the language) with HomeManager to manage my dotfiles and development environment. The Nix files are in a private GitHub repo, so after installing Nix (again, the language, not the operating system) I can pull the repo on a new machine and reliably replicate the same environment. I’ll probably do a post about it in the next few weeks if you’re interested.
@mcg Nice isn’t it? I have set up a Linux NixOS machine in the past but this time I am just using home-manager. I really like the declarative approach and being able to try out programming languages with nix shell.
@ronguest Cute aren’t they? I do kind of wish that they faced in opposite directions though (for symmetry).
@hjertnes That’s good to hear. I should probably just take the plunge and set it as my login shell.
@bsag @hjertnes @cn Thanks both! I think I’m probably making things too complicated and I should just manage it manually as you suggest, then just launch each shell independently to avoid exporting env variables twice.
@cn That might be the best way to go.
@BestofTimes It’s Mr Bsag’s book and it is full of amazing Ravilious prints and sketches.
@KevinEagan Ooo I’ve been eyeing up that one too.
@KevinEagan It’s great isn’t it? I think they are a very fair price for the quality and materials too.
@bsag I never saw it before either but it’s weird that me and Mr Bsag both got it at the same time (after the 8.6 update). He’s going to have to take his watch to the Genius Bar I think.
@odd Hopefully not! We crossed it and we’re still here. I think? 😨
@cygnoir Lovely! That looks perfect.
@mcg And it’s definitely rocks not bones 😉
@mcg It does look rather sinister in the photo but it didn’t in real life. I think it’s probably just to draw attention to the finger post. There are lots because it’s on the South Downs Way, but this particular marker is special.
@pratik @pimoore Thanks! I can tell you that my handwriting does not usually look like that, which is part of the reason I love this pen so much!
@jayeless It always makes me laugh how they pick something so apparently unsuitable 😂
@lmullen Oooo 🤯 I didn’t know that - very cool!
@BestofTimes So cute!
@garethjones You’re welcome, I used to love doing all those things too. My pockets were permanently full of acorns, pebbles, empty snail shells and confers as a kid.
@cn It could be a regional thing, I have no idea!
@cn True. Which would be sad because it would probably mean that people had not spent portions of their childhood outdoors, messing around in nature.
@devilgate Hehe 😁
